We recently had a busy holiday weekend with 5 consecutive gigs in a range of venues featuring exciting outdoor shows. We had the privilege of playing the Putnam Peddler’s Market, an open air market near vibrant downtown Putnam that featured a variety of vendors selling all kinds of handmade items. It won’t return until next year, but keep your eyes peeled for future dates. You can always find information about any venues we play in Links.
We also performed for Chowder Days at Mystic Seaport, a celebration of different varieties of chowder, bisques, and other foods. Both days had gorgeous weather and we felt fortunate to contribute our sounds to these events.
Another unique performance was at the Donald L. Oat Theater before the screening of the Brian Wilson biopic, LOVE & MERCY. We learned some songs by The Beach Boys just for the event, including “Caroline, No,” “Don’t Worry Baby,” “In My Room,” “Surfer Girl,” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice.” We’ve been happy to add these to our Song List and perform them regularly at our other shows. Being on a stage (not a riser) lit by spotlights with a captive audience was a very different experience for us. We’re normally playing in bars and restaurants in spaces carved out by sliding tables and chairs out of the way while performing in conjunction with conversation, laughter, and the clinking of dishware.
Despite our busy schedule we also managed to add two other new songs, Pearl Jam’s “Given To Fly” and Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.”
Our next shows will be:
- Thursday, October 15th at The Ancient Mariner in Mystic, CT, 8pm – 11pm
- Friday, October 16th at Pub 32 in Storrs, CT, 9pm – 1am
- Saturday, October 17th at Granite Farm Restaurant in North Scituate, RI, 6pm – 9pm
